NOTES ARE MOSTLY THE SAME AS WEEK 3.  YOU CAN ADD DISTRACTIONS TO THE SEND TO PLACE EXERCISE NOW (PEOPLE AND/OR CHILDREN WALKING AROUND YOUR HOME, DOING IT OUTSIDE AND SO ON).  YOU WANT IT TO BE CHALLENGING FOR HIM BUT NOT OVERWHELMING. Homework Schedule: Calming Exercises ( Rotate these three exercise on different days ie Monday Sit on The dog, Tuesday Long Place and Wednesday Relax for Exam so On) : Sit on the Dog 30 + minutes Goal:  To get your dog to lay down on their own steam in five minutes or under. Long Place Build to 30 minutes    Goal:  To get your dog comfortable and more relaxed staying on their place for thirty  minutes on dropped or tethered leash.  Week 4 There are no changes from Week 3. (NEW)  Relax for Exam 15 minutes Goal:  To get your dog accustomed to being examined by you.  You want your dog learn how to relax themselves when you do this. Week 5 Recall The Very Beginning

Equipment Needed :   6' Leash (week 1, afterwards we will use 15' long line); Training Collar Explanation and Goal of Exercise:   Formal command that requires the dog's immediate response to the command in a straight line that ends very close to the owner/handler/trainer in a sit position (auto sit). Uses for This Exercise:    This is an immediate directive to return to owner.   This can be just to leash up, or the owner/trainer/handler could see danger up ahead.   This exercise done well and to a standard can not only return your dog to you, but avoid some dangerous situations (hole in the ground, barbed wire, away from wild animal that has come into the yard ET). The following are steps for this exercise: STEP 1:   Start off in a heel. Week 5 Approach by a Stranger

Equipment: Six foot leash Training collar Familiar but not well known person Your dog should be on their six foot leash and training collar. FIRST WEEK Days 1-2: STEP 1:  Have your dog in heel position, and give them the "sit" command (remember when we say sit, we mean sit until release word is given). STEP 2:  Move three feet to the right of your dog.  You should be parallel to your dog. STEP 3:  Have your helper approach and walk so they are on the opposite side next to your dog and stop next to your dog's head. STEP 4:  Have your helper stand there for 30 seconds and then simply move on.   They are not to talk to, touch, or make eye contact with your dog before or after moving on. STEP 5:  Repeat for six repetitions. Week 4 Down with Leash Under Foot Method

Equipment needed: -6' Leather Lead -Training Collar STEP 1:  Start with your dog in a sit position.    STEP 2:  Your right hand will be holding the leash as you (in a non hurried way) let the loose leash fall to the ground, in a manner that it can be stepped upon easily.  STEP 3:  If your dog is not in a sit at this point, say sit and then reinforce that through molding or collar correction.   Then say "down" and take up all the slack in your leash from under your foot. STEP 4:  Every time your dog allows more slack in the leash, take up that slack. STEP 5:  Patiently wait your dog out until they decide to lay down. STEP 6:  Say "good boy" or "good girl" or "good [dog's name]" (remember this does...

NOTE ON STAYS:   DO NOT RUSH THROUGH THIS EXERCISE.   IF YOU STOP AT ONE SECTION, BUT DO THE BEST WORK POSSIBLE THAT IS MOST IMPORTANT.   IF YOU CAME HERE MORE ADVANCED, BUT HAVE TROUBLE AT ONE LEVEL, THEN BACK DOWN TO THE PREVIOUS LEVEL, AND GET THAT DONE CORRECTLY BEFORE MOVING ON.   CORRECTLY GOING ON MEANS THAT THE DOG CAN PERFORM THE TASK WITHOUT TREAT OR CORRECTION FOUR OUT OF FIVE TIMES. Week 4 Dog or Puppy Relax for Exam

  STEP 1:    The owner should be in a seated position somewhere comfortable. STEP 2:   Hold the puppy on your lap on their back. STEP 3:    Any time the puppy squirms or struggles, just hold them to your firmly. STEP 4:    When the puppy is calm ONLY (do not do this while mouthing ET, because we are teaching to be calm when being examined) start examining each part of her body (paws, in between toes, ears, belly as if for ticks, legs ***this can also show you any unusual growths or changes***, teeth, ET). Do this for about a fifteen minutes  while watching TV or relaxing in bed each day.
